What is ‘Hypermesis gravidarum’?
Hypermesis gravidarum is a typical imbalance of the body of the expectant mother when she cannot consume any type of food items, be it solid or liquid. It calls for immediate medical attention.
Abnormal Pregnancy Longings
Strange as it may seem, yet it is true that some expectant mothers have an intense longing for food items like coal, kerosene, petrol, diesel, soap and such items that are usually non-consumable items. The guardians must pay utmost attention to ensure that the patient does not consume such items. Though there may not be immediate negative fallouts on the patient concerned, yet such habits may have adverse effects on the foetus.
Constipation & Pregnancy
Many pregnant women suffer from constipation. It can lead to serious consequences. To avoid contracting this physiological imbalance of bowel movements, the patient should regularly include in her diet bran, cereals and similar other roughage.
Heart burn during Pregnancy
Heart burn can be a sure sign of gastric. It is a common symptom during pregnancy. A pregnant woman should opt for six-seven small meals during the day instead of the normal three square meals daily. It is a common symptom during pregnancy.
Physiological Pregnancy Symptoms
Pregnant women suffer from nausea, vomiting and morning sickness. It is not necessary that an expectant mother should experience all these symptoms. It may be just one or a combination of any of these physiological pregnancy symptoms.
Whatsoever it may be, one thing is for sure, though. Any one of them (not to speak of a combination of more than one symptom) does leave a negative emotional as well as physical impact on the patient.
Abnormalities During Pregnancy
1) Liking and disliking of foods
Smelling foods in an unusual way is the very first abnormality that is experienced. This can be taken in a positive way as a sign of being pregnant. A wave of the queasiness is caused by the odor of certain foods. In the very early days of pregnancy a strange and a strong dislike towards coffee is observed according to the various studies. The other disliked foods include the spicy ones and the dairy products as well.
The desire towards food is very common. This is also on of the symptoms of pregnancy. This abnormality for such food fondness can be easily chalked up to the changes in the hormonal levels. The food taste changes strangely to the pregnant ones during the very first trimester itself. During this stage a strong impact is made by the hormones.
2) Frequent urination
There is in increase in the frequency of the urination than the normal and usual health conditions. This occurs usually in the very first trimester in the stages of pregnancy. This is the result due to the increase in the uterus size which pushes the bladder.
3) Constipation
One of the most common abnormalities observed in pregnant women is constipation. Constipation can also aid in the indication that the person is pregnant. During pregnancy there is an increase in the levels of progesterone. This leads to the late digestion. Hence, the food moves very slowly throughout the gastrointestinal tract. This finally leads to constipation.
4) Headache
Frequent and mild headaches are experienced by the pregnant women. This usually occurs in the early stages of the pregnancy. This could be the result due to the increase in the amount of the blood circulation because of the abnormal hormonal levels.
5) Changes in the Mood
Pregnancy makes a woman to have a feeling of crying and to have abnormal type of emotions. This by any means should not let the pregnant women feel that she is nonsense. This is caused by the flow of hormones in their body. One of the most common changes includes the drift in the mood from a bright one to a dull one. Such changes occur in the first trimester especially.
